Hello, I'm Nancy.
A proud San Francisco native, triumphant mother of resilient sons and a woman whose life has always been shaped by education and community.
My story begins in the sixth grade with a summer that changed everything! I was accepted into Summerbridge, a program that cracked open the door to elite education. It’s also where I met my cofounder Latara. That opportunity not only provided me a better education, it ignited a fire in me to strive for equity and access to education for every family.
From there, my path led me to San Francisco University High School, dual degrees with honors in English and Mass Communications from Boston University, and eventually a Juris Doctor from U.C. Hastings College of the law. I became an attorney, an advocate, and a mentor.
But more importantly, I became a mother and that’s where the real lessons began. Education is the fabric of our family. Both of my boys also grew up in the Summerbridge program just like I did. One went on to graduate with a BS in computer science from Davidson College. The other is chasing his creative dream in fashion design at SCAD.

Watching them thrive, stumble, regroup, and soar taught me that this journey is not just about the student. It’s about the whole family and that’s why I built Adams Harris Consulting.
For over 25 years, I worked as an attorney and leader in the Department of Child Support Services helping families resolve complex challenges in moments of stress and uncertainty. I’ve guided parents through conflict, mentored students through crisis, and co-founded programs that provide under-resourced youth an opportunity to acquire an elite education.
My life’s work is to help families like yours breathe easier, dream bigger and watch their students step into the future with confidence. I did not set out to become an educational consultant, but I’ve always believed in equal access to education and justice, the cornerstones of our society. With a background in law, public policy and family advocacy, I have spent over two decades helping families navigate the complex intersections of education, justice and opportunity.
I founded Adams Harris Consulting to answer a calling that I couldn’t ignore: what if families, especially those that are historically overlooked, had the tools and emotional support to thrive through the college admissions journey? I have a reputation for my calmness, clarity, and a deep rooted sense of justice empowering me to act as a guiding force to help families turn chaos into calm. My superpower? Making even the most high-stakes process feel human, hopeful and honest.
I learned early that knowledge is power, but that power isn’t always distributed equally. I saw brilliant students overlooked. Families overwhelmed. Schools under-resourced. When families feel empowered, students soar. I built Adams Harris Consulting so no family has to feel alone in this.
Hi, I'm Latara
I come from a long line of healers and helpers. Raised in a multigenerational household in San Francisco, I learned early what it means to serve—whether organizing parents to support their children educationally, assisting community elders, or mentoring youth. That spirit of service carried into my education: I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UC Berkeley, a Master of Public Health from Touro University California, a post-baccalaureate premedical certificate from the Harvard Extension School, and a Certificate in College Admissions and Career Planning from UC Berkeley Extension. I am also certified in Public Health through the National Board of Public Health Examiners.
My career path weaves together public health, education, research, and community programs, but the common-line has always been the same: create systems that care. I’ve reconnected disenfranchised HIV patients to treatment, conducted clinical research with HIV/AIDS patients, developed smoking cessation programs for pregnant teens with diabetes, and worked to improve birth outcomes in low-income communities by using a group prenatal care approach. Today, I teach Public Health concepts to high school students in Vallejo through Touro University’s Youth in Action for Health Equity Program, because I believe the next generation should see themselves as both scholars and change-makers.
As a mother of two, I know firsthand the emotional weight of parenting through big transitions. My children graduated Summa Cum Laude from Syracuse University and with distinction from Pitzer College. No easy feat for a single-parent, but I’ve walked the walk alongside them through the competitive high school and college admissions process - with grace, the use complicated spreadsheets and calendaring systems, and the occasional crying-in-the-car moment. Those lived experience shape how I support families today.
As Youth Programs Director at my church, I have guided children and youth ministry for over 20 years. In 2002 I co-founded the Mama Jana Playgroup to broaden urban children’s exposure to cultural and educational experiences, and I helped establish the Black and Latino Family Networks at my children's private high school when I saw students’ affinity groups lacked parental support. The organizations are thriving to this day! My goal is to leave lasting positive impacts, along with a scaleable footprint for others to follow. Today, I serve as Chair for youth programs for my Sorority, and as Director of Alumni Relations for the Bay Area Tutoring Consortium.
Through Adams Harris Consulting, I bring empathy, elegance, and executive-level strategy to programs that ease anxiety and build peace. Families often say that working with me feels like being wrapped in both a hug and a plan. With a background in organizational leadership and youth advocacy, I’ve spent decades designing processes that deepen connection and simplify navigation. I ensure every detail, from scheduling to strategy, is handled with care, honoring both a family’s hustle and their heart. I am known as a systems whisperer, heart connector, and legacy builder.
I built Adams Harris Consulting because I want every parent to know: you are not behind, you are not alone, and you are already doing better than you think. My mission is simple - bring data, structure, and emotional fluency together in a way that feels intuitive, inspiring, and deeply human.
Most of all, I am a proud mother, a mentor, a community advocate, and a Licentiate prayerfully walking the journey toward ordained ministry. Every role I hold flows from one truth: families and communities thrive when systems are built not just to function, but to care.

Our Story...
Together, we created Adams Harris Consulting. We are more than co-founders, we are aligned in our mission, heart and purpose. We believe that college admissions should be more than an elite checklist. It is work rooted in soulfulness, family, and equity. Our alignment began in the sixth grade and has grown stronger over decades. Our journey began as peers and transitioned into founders, but we aren’t your typical founders. We are mothers, mentors, educators, and movement-makers.
After completing our own educational path, we found ourselves navigating the college process as both mothers and educators. We quickly realized that the system is still arduous, opaque and lonely for parents who don’t have the appropriate tools and resources.
Our response? We created what we wish we had: a support system that centers the whole family and honors the brilliance of every child, not just the ones that check every box. We don’t just work with students, we partner with families. Together we create clarity, calm, and a roadmap that actually works.
